Upcoming changes to the M30W website.

It will move to m30w.gershmer.net

gershmer.net/emeraldteam/ will point to the same place (actually m30w.gershmer.net will point to /emeraldteam) , and if you view the index of that directory (the home page) you will be redirected to m30w.gershmer.net , but if you are within it, it will stay the same. (ex. gershmer.net/emeraldteam/cppe will not redirect to m30w.gershmer.net/cppe)

You guys have the main www back. (www.gershmer.net/emeraldteam, rather than www3.gershmer.net/emeraldteam, but the latter still works)

I have begun redesigning.

My work is at http://184.73.197.205/u/6646746/wildboa … index.html (must include index.html to access)

The code is commented if you press view source.

It is FAR from done. I have to work on the home and downloads page, add a goals page, a timeline page (of our current progress), oh, the list goes on and on. But to name another: an archive of, for example old builds of Diamond or CPPE. Also, cds56: I might wanna rewrite the pages in the cppe folder, so beware.

Just remember:

-New design far from done
-m30w.gershmer.net is not up yet.

I will be doing web design the whole time while you guys write the actual program.

When web design is done, I will help.

And no, I will not give you access to /new-m30w/

But, I will accept suggestions.

Thanks for reading this uberlong post.

Also, we need a logo and/or a mascot.

Are you going to do that cool download skin on the download page? I really liked that.

I may. Depends how this comes along, with the basic orange.

Oh, you're no fun.

But... would this be good in a different color (I have no way of obtaining an actual copy of this design, but just to give an example) http://www.projectfedena.org/

Re: Upcoming changes to the M30W website.

I have decided to make it a lot easier for me and host it on DropBox while it is in development.

But, because it is DropBox, you must go to the index.html to actually access it. DropBox does not do directory indexes. (Also not server-side languages, ex. PHP, but it is just a simple website design I am doing right now)

Re: Upcoming changes to the M30W website.

If you want to access it a little more easily. Replace the ip with dl.dropbox.com or wild.gersh.tk or gershmer3.tk

That would be a bit annoying for me, because im already using DropBox for Panther Development... :/

What you need is good, pro-looking theme and CSS styles. I can do that. Well, styles.

Re: Upcoming changes to the M30W website.

These are CSS files from my website I never posted.

layout.css

Code:

div
{
    padding: 2px;
    margin: 2px;
}

.footer
{
    font-size:8pt;
}

.content
{
    padding: 5px !important;
}

.center
{
    width:69%;
    margin-left:15%;
}

.left
{
    float:left;
    width:15%;
    margin-right:5px;
}

.right
{
    float:right;
    width:15%;
    margin-left:5px;
    /*margin-left:85%;*/
}

.inner
{
    margin:5px;
}

.clearer
{
    height:100%;
}

hr
{
    clear:both;
}

.header
{
    width:100%;
    height:100px;
    clear:both;
}

skin.css

Code:

body
{
    background-color:#ffffff;
    font-family:"Trebuchet MS",Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;
    font-size:12pt;
}

.content
{
    background-color: #FFCC66;
}

.sidebar
{
    background-color: #FF9900;
    font-family:Quicksand;
    font-size:14;
}

.header
{
    font-family:Quicksand;
    font-weight:bold;
}

.inner
{
    border:1px solid #FFEE00;
}

p:first-line
{
    font-variant:small-caps;
}

p.quicksand:first-line, p:quicksandlight:fitrst-line
{
    font-weight:bold;
}

p:first-letter
{
    font-size:larger;
}

hr
{
    color:#CC0000;
}

a
{
    text-decoration:none;
    color:#ce5713;
}

a:hover
{
    text-decoration:underline overline;
    color: #FFFF00;
}

a:visited
{
    text-decoration:overline;
    color:#cc0e00;
}

img
{
    border: none;
}

Quicksand Font Definition - will work for most browsers, IE6-era and other IE will render Trebuchet MS (that font on Scratch website)
Quicksand pack download

Code:

/* Quicksand font */

/* * This CSS file has been generated by fontsquirrel.com * * The fonts included are copyrighted. * * @vendor: Andrew Paglinawan * @vendorurl: http://www.andrewpaglinawan.com * The license for this font family can be found on the fontsquirrel.com website. * * @licenseurl: http://www.fontsquirrel.com/license/Quicksand * */ /* For IE */ @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand'; src: url('Quicksand_Book.otf'); } /* For Other Browsers */ @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand Light'; src: local('Quicksand Light'), local('Quicksand-Light'), url('Quicksand_Light.otf') format('opentype'); } @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand Light'; src: local('Quicksand Light Oblique'), local('Quicksand-LightOblique'), url('Quicksand_Light_Oblique.otf') format('opentype'); font-style: italic; } @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand'; src: local('Quicksand Book'), local('Quicksand-Book'), url('Quicksand_Book.otf') format('opentype'); } @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand'; src: local('Quicksand Book Oblique'), local('Quicksand-BookOblique'), url('Quicksand_Book_Oblique.otf') format('opentype'); font-style: italic; } @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand'; src: local('Quicksand Bold'), local('Quicksand-Bold'), url('Quicksand_Bold.otf') format('opentype'); font-weight: bold; } @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand'; src: local('Quicksand Bold Oblique'), local('Quicksand-BoldOblique'), url('Quicksand_Bold_Oblique.otf') format('opentype'); font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; } @font-face { font-family: 'Quicksand Dash'; src: local('Quicksand Dash'), local('Quicksand-Dash'), url('Quicksand_Dash.otf') format('opentype'); }

Anyway, this file will be included in pack. You must place the font CSS stylesheet in the same folder as the font files. Also, you can copy the files into your system's Fonts (eg. C:\Windows\Fonts) directory and use them in Word.

These files need some fine-tuning, but will do fine in the outcome.

I don't care. Using deprecated tags and attributes to build a site that looks basic is fine by me.

But not by me. Face it. If we're going to build a basic-looking site with obsolete techniques, we'll end up just like SiMPLE *dramatic thunderclap*

no, please not that! Anyhting but that!

That, is an old, deprecated, and out of style type of site.

Some basic sites are still in style although they may be deprecated.

That's how it looks applied (used Firebug to doctor it into your file):

Just few slight modifications to the document layout, but styles are unchanged.

Re: Upcoming changes to the M30W website.

Yes. The Quicksand font didn't work because I haven't installed it in my Fonts directory, but you can look it up on Fontsquirrel, looks pretty cool. Uses semantic (more or less) class names, and layout is separate from appearance, so it's possible to implement a simple theme system based on different CSS files that we can serve thru PHP. I was also thinking about modifying WordPress script to give it our skins and behaviour - this would act as content management system.
